Seen the latest on the Columbine shootings? It's disgusting. Truly and absolutely disgusting what the media will do to get a story out there. First let's start at the beginning. The boy, the brother and myself were all sitting out in the living/bed room last nite as we usually do when the late news came on. There were a ton of nasty stories about someone shooting someone or a man getting beaten to death because he told a guy to "watch it" when a car went speeding by him as he was crossing the road. The brother said something along the lines of "ugh, what's going on in the news." and I said to him "just pretend it's a fake tv show cause that's basically what it is." For awhile there I wouldn't watch much of the news. Living in nyc and watching the news can sometimes be a scary match. However, recently I started to think about all the bullshit they make up or exagerate or the heartless crap just to make a good story. Then the columbine piece came on.

If you haven't seen it already, it's a new home video of the two kids taking shooting practice out in the woods. Apparently they designated trees and bowling pins to be classmates and teachers. The anchor woman started off by saying they had found something like disgusting or disturbing footage of the shooters. I said "And you're gonna show it to us aren't you." Of course, they did. But that wasn't the worst part. The worst part was when they interviewed some of the kids who were there when the shooting took place. Cut to a girl saying "I think it's terrible because it just gives them more publicity."....cut to video footage. WHAT ASSHOLES! I mean, can you believe the absolute nerve of these people? Someone is trying to say to the news not to show it because it's bad and they don't deserve the publicity and they just cut straight into it? Maddening.

Im exhausted and I shouldn't be awake right now. The alarm was set for 8am. Here I am, awake and tired. I'll have to take a nap after this post I think.

On a lighter note, we went to the Big Apple Circus yesterday. The boy ended up getting to go after one of the people invited had to work instead. I tell you what, if you have a choice of going to Cirque and the Circus...choose the circus. ((Althought Im a huge fan of Cirque mind you)). The circus offers you all the stunts of Cirque plus: laughter, childlike behavior, horses jumping thru hoops, a woman who can rock the hoola hoops, small intimate venue (atleast for Big Apple), dogs jumping thru hoops and juggling with the juggler, clowns, carnival dancing, confettie, popcorn, crackerjacks, hotdogs, slushies, cotton candy, and guy nearly falling off the tight rope and more.

It was fantastic.

I need to go back a lay down.
