I could have slept for ever this morning but of course the punk rock kitties will have nothing of the sort. After a long nite of partying and fight club type brawls they were especially hungry. Anarchy is their middle name and they'll stop at nothing to get their punk slop breakfast. They jumped on my head, pounded on my stomach and screamed in my ear. It was especially obnoxioius when I finally did rise because my brain managed to tune them out while I was sleeping, atleast for a little while.
Yesterday on the ride over to work there was only one seat left on the train. I snagged it of course so I could read my book (Corner). I looked around and realized there were a few people standing, choosing not to take the seat. When I sat, I found out why. There was a woman eating lo mein out of it's container and I'll tell you what, there is nothing quite so gross as the smell of chinese food in a packed subway car in the semi-morning. I took short breaths thru my nose until I eventually became immune to the smell. Just when I thought I had had it mastered she started to move a little funny. I start to think "please god woman, don't vomit." She doesnt, instead, she belches a huge lo mein belch. I refuse to look up. I refuse to take in a breath. I also refuse to stand. I consider saying something because I know Im not the only one feeling disgusted by this act however, with one short glance at this woman it is obvious that confrontation will get me nowhere. You know what else is nasty on the train? McDonalds. Somehow when someone brings hot food onto a train and cracks it open for a traveling meal, it smells ten times worse than it normally would. Perhaps it's the mix of the food smell and crammed people smell. Either way, it's just plain rude and disgusting.
It's right up there with sitting down and taking up a seat with your stuff or playing a radio or cranking your headphones so loud that you can sing along to the music. We all have to ride the subway and for most of us, it's our only down time. Im not suggesting the place be treated like a library, Im just suggesting that a certain amount of respect be applied when riding the train. And for the most part everyone is respectful of other people's space, it's just those few idiots who have no manners who can really ruin your down time.
Wow, look at me go off about manners and stuff.
Today, i have no idea about work or anything for that matter. As per usual Im just waiting for the call. I know I have to paint stuff at one point. I envy you with schedules, I truly do.
