And we're off!

FINALLY!!
Spurn has opened up it's fringe run and it couldn't have been a better turn out. Getting there was madness but we made it and I couldn't be more proud of these people.
The fringe is a wild beast, first and foremost. Our venue, out of the many they had available, is one of the best and largest houses. It seats 210 people and we're used to playing this show to about a 60 person house.
We had 4 weeks to rehearse 16 scenes and get them at or under an hour and a half. The process (at times) was long and hard. As far as teching the show went, in the fringe you share your space with other shows and you get a limited amount of time. Normally, we would have about 15 hours worth of tech time (this is to get the actors on stage, design and program the lights, sound, costumes and props. For this, we had double our run time, 3 hours, last tuesday...and then a 3 day break between tech and actually getting back on the stage to perform.
Anyhow, long story short, we packed the house, every seat. We had only sold about 130 tickets prior to the show which means we had a LOT of walk ins. The line went down the block! But that isn't the best part. The best part was finally hearing laughter to all the scenes and most of all, unhesitating standing ovation they recieved when it was over.
Everyone did a great job. This will be a spurn to remember!
And today, UKUK opens up for The Queers at the Knitting Factory!!! Huzzah!
