Things to me seem hectic. I might be making it up but today's day off feels fantastic. We'll see how long it can continue being a day off.
Dave Letterman was a blast. We waited outside for about a total of 2 hours, getting hyped up by the young Letterman employees. One man came out telling us to laugh and clap and have a good time, but no high pitch woo hoos or aaaaaaaaaaaws. My brother and I stood outside in the line watching the large group who was already standing in the lobby. We were pretty convinced at one point that we must be getting seated in the front. Long story short, we were wrong. We got balcony seats. Later I found out that they usually seat the big families down in front and the people in pairs up top.
I was amazed at how small the studio was in person. As we navigated our view through the massive amount of low hanging stage lights, a guy came out to get us excited with a stand up routine. Then he announced the band without Paul Schaeffer and they played one tune without him. Halfway thru the second tune he came out with his crazy matching striped suit blazing. When that song ended, Dave came out without his suit jacket on and talked to us for about 3 minutes. Mentioned it was his mother's birthday the day before, asked if there were any other moms in the audience with a birthday. Then he asked if we had any questions with about 30 seconds left to go.
The show was fun even though I couldn't see Dave's head through a massive scoop light. Denzel Washington was on and Jim Rome, the jackass sports guy who I am highly amused by. And even though we were in the balcony, we still managed to briefly make it on camera during "Dwight the Troubled Teen".
Now to get Daily Show tickets....muuuhahahhahah.
