I was reading my book on the train yesterday when the girl next to me turned and asked me if I had seen the movie yet. Im reading The Corner by the way. I said no and that I was waiting to finish the book. We talked the rest of the way to my stop about the book and I told her about Jonathan Kozol's Amazing Grace which is similar but about NYC. She told me about a program that was on PBS called New York and said it was about how the city basically came to be. We talked about diversity. We talked about how she went to Balitmore once and said the book (corner) is totally accurate. We talked about cities covering up the "bad" sections. Pretending they don't even exist. It was really great to talk to someone else about the book. And it was really great to meet someone new.

Today I have a matinee and a nite show. Gonna be a long day.
