Snow? uh...okay.
Well I decided to read some news this morning and of course, I ended up fuming in the end. The cover story is of our lovely mayor Mike Bloomberg and his fascinating decision to force three of his panel members to resign because they didn't share his views on Educational Policy that was to be voted on. These three people were against the vote so he dropped them and replaced them with 3 people who did agree with him. What does this plan consist of? It will hold third graders who score the lowest on the standardized tests back regardless of past grades and attendance.
THIS IS INSANE! What in the hell is wrong with NY? This entire state's education is based on tests. The regents specifically is my biggest pet peeve. Yes, I had to endure the regents exam in high school and due to one missed grade, the previous 4 years of my life were a complete waste as I walked with my non-regents diploma...because of one test. Chemistry. Now kids MUST graduate with a regents in order to graduate at all. And now this? This is absurd. There are kids out there who may be no good at taking a tests or learning in the classroom who will now be held back and treated like they're slow or have a learning disability. Ugh, Im so angry about this I can't even think straight. Here's the link.
