ACK...i can't get started. my morning brain is not cooperating. What's new? well there's some more blah pictures up now over there in the photo section. However, I did choose some of the more unique photos as opposed to something like me, my friend, my other friend and my other friend all getting ready to go out and party type pictures. That's mostly cause I dont go out and party really. Sometimes I wish I did but I guess it's just not my thing.
It takes a lot for a party to entertain me. If we're just going to some club or bar, I'll have fun for a little while but soon I'll be sittting on a stool, drinking a coke and thinking about all the things I can entertain myself with elsewhere. Now the parties over the summer? That's a completely different story. Even when my brother visited and I took him over to one of our gatherings he said "Finally I went to a party that I didn't want to leave" or something along those lines.
Every saturday, which was the day before our only day off a week...you know, sunday? we had a sort of theme party. The first one of the season is called Polyester and it's always hosted by the same apartments (each set of apartments hosts a new theme every week) because it there is a tree in the back with some polyester stuck in it. This one Ive never really dressed up for (in the two seasons i have been there for it.) It's in the middle of reherasal period and I'm usually too wasted tired to go get dressed, but I have attended happily in my work clothes to see all the silly folks dressed in their finest polyester. A few saturdays later there's White Trash party. This one the boy pretends to take offense to becaue he grew up...ya know...that way. But it doesn't really bother him. It's all a front, like his "fear" of midgets. That's another story.
Anyhow, for white trash all you do is go to the local thrift shop and pick out any piece of clothing and you're in. Now every party also has a king and queen which basically means that you had the best costume. Im proud to say that in my multicolored spandex minidress, k-mart bag for a purse, blue eye shadow and a banana clip in my hair, I was the queen! They also had a wet t-shirt contest which made some of the oldies give a look of shock and awe and remark "Man, Ive never seen this happen before."
Yadda yadda yadda. Then there's other ones like the prom, speak easy, tie and underwear, etc etc. The only ones I chose to dress up for were white trash, toga (I was the oracle) and super hero (tank girl) but just being there is enough. You see, when you're amongst a group of actors, you're always entertained. They tend to find a character and most of the time, stick with it through the nite. It really throws you off sometimes when you're trying to ask someone where so and so is and they respond like "Aaaaar me matey, shall it be rum or rum?!" or "You seen billy bob? I gotta get my spankin!"
Ah memories of good ol' clean wholesome fun. And now I am here back in Brooklyn where things seem so much more....normal. I remember saying to the boy once...."I really can't wait to get back to NYC where the weirdos seem normal in comparison to this place." It's true...
