5am...i wake up with a jump. The boy wakes up and says "are you okay?"....I respond "It just snowed on me!"....silence... "seriously, it did!"
Today is one of those days when the boy and I can hear that song from Moulin Rouge going through our heads, you know, the one that says "The show must go on!". You know how it gets all creeepy and sad sounding? Right, that's it. Because on a day like today, as the tri-state area is at home enjoying the beautiful blizzard from their cozy homes, we'll be trekking in the 50 mile per hour winds and snow to work. Yes, like the mail, we perform thru snow, wind and rain.
We're in a "state of emergency" due to weather for once and not just terrorism. That's the bonus to this wonderful storm. People have kind of just stopped thinking about buildings exploding and dirty bombs for awhile to enjoy the natural explosion of snow. Its rather nice.
This is the boys first blizzard ever, being from the south and all. We got bundled up at about 11pm last nite and went out and played. We made snow angels right in front of our building and did some snow wrestling. Good snowy times. It's really exciting that I finally found something that Ive seen a billion times and he's never experienced it. You could see the kid coming out in both of us.
Now it's time to take a shower and get ready to make the trip to work. Think warm thoughts for me and also all those people out there who have to be at work, cab drivers, hospital workers and the people who planned trips to some far off warm land, but their plane was cancelled. Today is one of those days to remember the people who are out there to take care of you during a storm like this and in my case, entertain. We dont stop working so you can have a good day off. Enjoy!
